About the practice
Dennis John Peyton was born and raised in Wisconsin, where he received his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin. He earned a graduate degree in Mexican Corporate and Economic law from La Universidad Panamericana and his law degree from La Universidad Tecnológica de México, both in Mexico City. He is currently licensed to practice law in Mexico.
Mr. Peyton lived and worked in Mexico City with a Mexican law firm throughout the 1980’s, and spent several years focused on large multinational joint ventures, real estate development, and foreign investment in Mexico. In 1988, Mr. Peyton opened his office, Peyton & Associates, in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, and became heavily involved in litigation and real estate transactions in Mexico, as well as business set-ups for foreigners doing business in Mexico.
Peyton & Associates is proud to have filed one of the only NAFTA cases regarding foreign investment in tourist developments in Mexico. They have also pioneered the use of collective legal actions to defend foreign condominium owners in Mexico.
For 30 years Peyton & Associates have helped foreigners in Mexico. During this time, they have established working relations with professionals throughout Mexico and consequently they have been able to meet the needs of their clients, regardless of where they need help in Mexico.
The firm’s practice includes all aspects of Mexican Law and International Law while specializing in Mexican Real Estate and the representation of Americans and Canadians in Condominium developments in Mexico. Peyton & Associates offers representation and advice regarding the rights of condo owners and condominium homeowner’s associations in Mexico, including collective actions to enforce condo owners’ rights. Peyton & Associates exclusively represents Americans and Canadians involving abuses by real estate developers in Mexico.
Mr. Peyton is the author of the book “HOW TO BUY REAL ESTATE IN MEXICO”, which will soon to be available in 2018 in its 4th edition. He is also in the process of publishing the “2018 BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR CONDO OWNERS’ HANDBOOK” which includes an explanation of condo owners’ rights including the very important 2016 amendments to the Baja California Sur Condo Law.
